Today, we are so excited because Karin spotted our first Tomatillo fruit on the plant. She spotted it before me and came running inside saying, "Look Dad, look at this, what is it?
I explained it's our first Tomatillo fruit ever, that we have grown and that you can cook and make Mexican Green Chutney!
Yes, she was super excited and wanted to know more.
I continued to tell her about the Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes that the Tomatillo's were growing with and how this season we will get a wide variety of colours from black, to pink to yellow.
Her reply, "That's cool Dad!
I had a few goes at growing Tomatillos' but I found the best ones grew amongst the Cherry Tomatoes, so looks like I discovered a companion plant combination. This obviously means that they would also grow well amongst the herbs Sweet Basil and different Parsley varieties.

My goal has always been to inspire and teach others to grow healthy fresh food at home in small spaces, such as urban gardens, courtyards, patios and even balconies like me.
It truly is amazing just how much food you can produce in containers.
