Today we are going to discuss how to make your own liquid fertilizer at home.
It really is quite a simple process.
There are few different types that you can make some easier than others.
The first I would like to discuss in a home made weed tea!
I would have to say it's easiest ever and believe me you will be thinking, "WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT"
HOW TO MAKE HOME MADE WEED LIQUID FERTILIZER!
We all have access to weeds right? Actually for many of us this can be a daily chore weeding the garden, but what if I told you that you can turn your weeds into organic liquid fertilizer!
This is how you make it!
- Get a large bucket and half fill it full of water.
- Get about one third the buckets depth in weeds and place into the bucket
- Allow the weeds to sit for approximately 3-5 days, longer in winter.
- Once the mix is starting to get a little smelly you have your very own liquid fertilizer.
- Mix it down to about 50-50 with water then water or spray onto your plants.
How Does This Liquid Fertilizer Work?
When you pull up the weeds the nutrients are still stored!
But after a few days of soaking the weeds, the weeds leach the nutrients back into the soil.
There is a catch though!
If you pull weeds up from infertile soil the weed will contain only a small amount of nutrients and minerals.
Try to find your weeds to make Your Own Liquid Fertilizer at Home from nice fertile soils. If you can't don't worry, just make your solution a little stronger by adding more weeds or cutting down the mix to 70-30.
You can use this liquid fertilizer on any plants that need a nutrient boost. It's also a great way to save a few dollars and keep the weeds down.
TIP: If the weeds are full of seeds soak for long enough to drown the seeds. Let the seeds germinate in the mix and become a part of the vital brew.
Seeds contain amazing amounts of stored nutrients and this will give your liquid fertilizer the boost that it just may need.
How Often Do You Apply The Liquid Fertilizer?
Lettuce and leafy vegetables can have a liquid fertilizer boost at least once a week, You can also water the solution down and apply more often if you like, say twice a week.
Other herbs and vegetables would appreciate a boost in the growing season about once a week.
In the cooler climates or in the fall (Autumn) or spring once a fortnight would be perfect.
