t's another sunny day on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia and we are still having Spring record temperatures. It's like it's summer already now here.
In some regards it's good for plant growth, but I am not so sure about the cooler leafy green crops and Snow peas, time will tell
It also means that the summer north winds are coming on my Patio and creating a bit of havoc.
But, all is not without loss as there are still a ton of things I can do around my Container Apartment Garden and if you follow me here, through my newsletter or at marty's garden on Youtube you will see it all unfold.
Photo Below: This recycled bottle garden is a great project for you and the kids. Please share this image at Pinterest. It's been a big hit so far! Just use your imagination for what you can grow in this. A miniature Tomato, Lettuce, herbs, strawberries. Any shallow rooted plant. Actually perfect for starting Avocado's from seed too!
What can we grow on the windowsill?
- The answer is another question "How much light do you have?"
If you get more than 6 hours light a day, then experiment and try everything. Then just grow the ones that performed best and trial a few different plants here and there.
You can also grow all different types of sprouts. I am now going vertical on my windowsill with my new sprouter that I bought from Bunnings and just loving it.
You can also try microgreens, such as Watercress on the windowsill with much light.
At the moment I am growing as sprouts, Mung, Chick Pea, Snow Pea, Alfalfa, Radish and a few more. This may sound like a lot, but, what I do is mix them all together. This way I don't need a separate tray or dish for each sprout.
