Chilli Chicken Cooking Tips

Chicken Chili Recipes - 5 Tips to Making Great Chicken Chili

In this article we are going to look at five simple, yet effective tips to making great chicken chili recipes. These tips apply to making chicken chili or any chili recipe and will greatly enhance the experience of the dish. So when preparing your chili recipe take these tips into account.

Tip 1. Plan on cooking your chili at least one day ahead of time as this give all the ingredients time to marry or meld together. This works especially well if you allow the chili to cool until you can handle it safely before refrigerating it.

Tip 2. Decide how much of all your ingredients you will need as to how many people you will be serving and then take an estimate of how many servings each person can eat.

Tip 3. You can use any part of the chicken that you want, but whole or split breasts are the best as they are lean and have the best flavor. Make sure that you take the skin off if you have bought them with the skin on as we do not want all of that excess fat in our chicken chili recipe as we want this dish to be filling and healthy!

Tip 4. You can save the chicken skin if you bought chicken breast or leg quarters for this recipe. Just peel of the skin and put in a zip lock bag for other uses down the line. ( I know what you are thinking. Trust me on this one. Chicken skin can come in handy for many other recipes so keep them!)

Tip 5. If using a tomato based chili recipe, many recipes call for using canned whole peeled tomatoes in puree'. That is fine, but in the interest of adding some fine dining panache to the dish I suggest learning how to par boil fresh tomatoes and then peeling them for use in this or any recipe that calls for either whole or peeled or diced/cubed tomatoes.

You may even want to learn how to fire roast fresh tomatoes on your grill and this adds wonderful flavor to the tomatoes and any dish you use them in! Either way, learning how to par boil and/or fire roast your tomatoes is a good kitchen skill to have and the fresher the ingredients the better the food!
